5th annual Marilyn J. Neu “MJN Help Defeat MS Slingball Tournament
Highlights:

Slingball Championship:
The elite 8 came down to eight Slingball Gladiators:  John Brase (the South Paw Assassin), Carter Neu, Randy Neu, Former Champ Brian “Green Machine” Green, new comer Fred “Oak Tree” Paris as well as returning elite 8 player Angela “Just do it” Dagler and another new comer Louis “Swoosh” Vandenberg and Cara “World Cup” Cook!   The main event was similar to last year’s final, only with a different outcome.  Last year Carter Neu went in undefeated and was taken down in consecutive matches.  This year it was the left handed South Paw Assassin John Brase who came in smoking hot undefeated.  John and Carter took a short (beer) break before taking their skills to the sand and that’s all it took.  Somehow Carter stole John’s mojo and was able to beat John consecutively to capture his first ever Slingball Title!!!  Carter continued the tradition of dumping his beer into the SlingCup and promptly pouring it on his head!   Keep in mind, Carter has a Slingball Court built into his back yard.  However, to date there is only one back to back champion in Tyson Labrouse, so if history is on everyone’s side to knock off the now current Champ!  Congrats to Carter… hold onto the cup while you can!

Mini Marilyn Kids Slingball Tourney:
The mini Marilyn Kids tourney is growing…up to 29 kids this year.  Congrats go out to Trevor Green, Lorenzo Curtis, Haley Brase and Zach Lambert

Much Thanks to Twist Wine Company (Sean & Chenin) for their hosting of the Friday Night Silent Auction,  the Pelican Pub (Ken, Zach & Crew) for their hosting of the Slingball Tourney & the Pacific City Sun (Tim) and Oregon Coast Today for coverage of the event.   Thank you to the entire town of Pacific City for everyone’s generous hospitality!

Tournament Director: TRACY NEU!!!
Not an easy task when you are also the mother of two year old twins (and the future Neu Brothers)!

Disclaimer:
Our apologies if we missed someone as we are sure there were others that chipped in.  Thank you!

We’ll end with a few memorable stories:
Did we mention that this year Carter and Randy were interviewed by KCHB Radio out of Lincoln City.   The stopped by the studio which covers Newport to Tillamook and shared the MJN Helping Fight MS Tourney story as well as Sling Slang with the crew.  It’s funny talking about Mary Lou’s, Digglers, and Snapbacks under the mic on live radio!   On top of that Oregon Coast TODAY newspaper also had an article on the MJN Sling Tourney.  Needless to say, we continue to grow in popularity and it’s all because of YOU!!!  Without everyone’s support, none of this could happen!  Again, here is the link:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Bu0QiRdN1B4&feature=channel_video_title

Your mission:
Save the date on your Outlook Calendar… June 29, 30th and July 1st 2012.  This will be next year’s event!

A sincere thank you to all participants, volunteers, donators and supporters!!!

Last Year's Slingball Tounament (2010)
Hi Randy, Tracey, Carter, Nadia and the rest of the wonderful gang.

This past weekend was delightful, educational and just too much fun!  Everyone was great - your aunts are such a hoot!  They have a wonderful sense of humor I so loved the wineglass eyewear.  The slingball tournament touched so many lives....participants, spectators and, of course, the beneficiaries - the local MS community.

Please know how much we appreciate all your hardwork and feel honored you have chosen to support our mission.

Candyce
